There are 5 series very close together, vying for second place but all a long way back: series 561 (History) series 497 (Noel Barr's Animal Stories), series 536 (Nature), the rhyming stories of Perring (such as 'Smoke and Fluff') and the Learning to Read series 563 (Shopping with Mother, et al).
